AL NOOR ACADEMY

Al Noor primary school was established during a visit by founding members of the Foundation who reached Lodwar during a visit to all Mosques and Madrassa in North Western Kenya in August 1983. Upon reaching the Town the local Muslim Community asked the visitors to help establish a center where they would be able to get religious nourishment and education. The members took up the challenge and in 1986 the Lodwar Islamic center which included a Nursery school, a Mosque and Madrassa was constructed.

Al Noor Nursery school started with 42 Pupils, 2 classrooms and two teachers. Over the year the school has grown in strength and student numbers. In 2011 due to the increased number of students and a request from the parents to establish a Primary school to cater for the pupils leaving the Nursery.

Al Noor Primary school was established and currently the Nursery and Primary has 287 pupils and nine teachers from class 1 to class 4 which was started this year. Rose Chirchir who is currently the Principal of the school has been with us since 1986. The primary section was moved to a new site a few kilometers from Lodwar center near Nakwamekwi. The school provides transportation for the students using the school bus.

Despite the harsh terrain,harsh economic situation and lack of quality Education in the area Al Noor Academy strives to ensure that the quality of education provided in the school is of the highest quality by having highly trained and qualified teaching staff that ensure the students get the best education in order to build a firm foundation as they proceed to higher classes.
