LODWAR ISLAMIC CENTER

The Lodwar Islamic Center is the flagship and model for all centres run by this Foundation. Having started in 1982, the centre hosts over 50 resident orphans and supports over 20 more on home based support program with education being number one in the priority list. Al Momin Foundation caters for the children education, shelter, meals, health and clothing within the centre until when they complete their primary education after which they move in with their closest kin from where the foundation continues to support their secondary education for those who perform well.

Over the years Lodwar Islamic Centre has been a voice of reason and authority in the county for their commitment to the Turkana community in promoting education and addressing social vices. The centre has produced competent good citizens who serve in various offices both in cooperate world and government.

Lunch break

The centre hosts a largest mosque in Lodwar town, which serves as a reference point for Islamic matters and an Islamic centre for the Muslim community, government institutions and the general residents in the county. Our administrators have been presiding over religious rites such as marriage, burials and among others. The community enjoys Ramadhan ration where every year the organization provide and iftar package for over 250 families and feeds hundreds daily at the mosque after the sunset prayers. This usually culminates with a luncheon for the community on the Eid day.

The organization also collect Zakat from donors and well-wishers and distribute it to the area. Our aid extends to families in Lokichar which is small town about 100 kilometres from Lodwar, Lolupe, Lokichar and Kalkol.
